and world record holder, USA National team member, club and
National Team coach and manager. USA Track & Field Administrator
at local association level and as a USATF Elite Athlete Advisor,
competition official and certified coach. Successfully combined
military service as a commissioned officer and commander in
the United States Army as well as a certified coach on national
youth, junior and collegiate/university teams. Established
relationships with the U.S. Olympic Training Center, NCAA,
USATF and IAAF officials. Has extensive knowledge, experience

Military Profile | Thomas E. Johnson, Major, United States Army 1986 - Present
Thomas currently serves as the Director of the Defense Speaker’s
Bureau, for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Pentagon, Washington,
D.C. In this position, he is primarily responsible for the department’s
speakers program, which includes scheduling and coordinating speaking
engagements for the Secretary of Defense, Honorable Donald H. Rumsfeld,
Under Secretary and Deputy Assistant Directors or principal staff. He
conducts policy and legal review of all speaking requests for official
Department of Defense speakers. He is responsible for the Secretary’s
Honor Guard and Pentagon Tour program, which conducts over 100 tours
a year with over 100,000 visitors. He liaises directly with the department’s
top management, including the Secretary of Defense, the
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Service Secretaries on
all matters pertaining to public outreach, speaking events and Pentagon
Tours. He represents the Department and the Office of Public Affairs
and Internal Communication in frequent dealings with the President of
the United States and high-level officials in the White House, military
services and other executive agencies.
Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 2004-2005
Served as the Chief of Command Information for the Coalition
Forces Land Component Command (CFLCC), Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in support
of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also served as the Commander of the
14th Public Affairs Detachment that produced live news coverage in
support of British forces as they moved into Fallujah, Iraq as well
as deployments into An Najaf, Iraq in support of combat operations
under intense enemy fire.
